Cermillia Williams, MSW

Greetings , I’m Cermillia.

 

I have always been intrigued by how our mind and thoughts can dictate how we feel and respond to people, places, or things rather they be positive or negative. I feel it is important for clients to understand and be mindful of how these emotions can affect their quality of life. I have developed a passion for advocating for mental wellness in my community and educating minorities about the importance of therapy and managing their mental health. I have always been committed to reducing mental health disparities and promoting wellness in my community. I have conducted body image seminars to raise awareness of body positivity. I have hosted seminars geared towards the lack of trust in the African American communities. I have also held workshops about destigmatizing seeking therapy in the African American community. 

 

I specialize in providing therapy to individuals within the minority community. I have a understanding of the unique experiences, cultural differences, and challenges the minority groups face on a daily basis. I am very passionate about providing culturally sensitive and empowering therapy to individuals. I understand the stigmas surrounding  therapy within the minority group and will be sure to make individuals feel comfortable, free, and confident to share their emotions and feelings without any judgment. 

 

My career began in 2007 after developing a passion for mental health and mental development in my community. With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, I have worked with individuals dealing with various concerns such as racial trauma, identity exploration, discrimination, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I believe therapy has a way of helping individuals transform their lives. I want my clients to know therapy has a way of giving individuals  a sense of purpose, healing, growth, confidence, and resilience.

 

Clients enjoy working with me because “I keep it real.” My therapeutic and trauma informed approach draws from evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution focused therapy, and mindfulness based techniques. My therapeutic approach is always lead by a client centered approach which  is tailored towards the needs of clients where they are encouraged to freely express themselves in a “Judgement Free Zone.” 

 

I understand taking the first step towards therapy can be challenging but I assure you that you will come out victorious, more confident, and more aware. Each individual will be met with respect, dignity, empathy, compassion, and a deep commitment to a more positive well-being. Together we will collaborate and navigate through life’s challenges, foster personal growth, and promote positive change.
