Makya Kirchner, MSW Student

Hello my name is Makya Kirchner and I am currently a Masters of Social Work student at Arizona State University (soon to be a Licensed Masters Social Worker). I moved here about three years ago from Milwaukee,WI with my fur baby and I am eager to continue serving the Southwest Region. I have been in the social work field for over 5 years and had the pleasure of serving in both WI and AZ typically ages 9-22. I have extensive experience working with youth and young adults who have encountered the foster care system, experienced the juvenile justice system, and have experienced significant life changes.

I take a client centered approach and emphasize trauma informed care which includes meeting people where they are at. In my work I also focus on mindfulness, coping skills, effective communication, and building self esteem. I take a direct hands on approach while being compassionate and open minded to my clients needs.

I welcome clients from all walks of life. This includes but is not limited to those exploring identity, relationship building, and advocacy. I provide individual and family sessions. I am passionate about family stability and the positive impact this has on the quality of life for both parents and children. I encourage feedback as my primary goal is to cultivate a space for clients to feel comfortable in their growing experience.
