Erick Gregory Martinez, Pre-Licensed Social Worker

The past is not where we think we left it. Trauma, grief, and abuse hold space in our bodies and minds, leaving traces of intrusive memories, reactions, feelings, and behaviors. While we are not responsible for many of the wounds we endured in our past, as we grow older, we often confront the inevitable reality that it is our responsibility to heal from them.

As a Master of Social Work intern, I specialize in supporting those who have been touched by the painful experience of trauma, as well as the enduring marks of grief, domestic violence, and abuse. I have found that these experiences are often linked to symptoms of depression, anxiety, substance use, and fear of abandonment. Rather than wanting to eliminate these experiences, my approach aims to open space for those emotions that often demand to be felt. I have found that once this space is provided, they naturally diminish over time. I do this through a variety of trauma-informed approaches, including parts work informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma Incident Reduction (TIR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I enjoy working with adults, couples, adolescents, and the LGBTQIA+ community in both Spanish and English.

I am a gay man originally from Colombia with a deep passion for ceramics, healing, and self-expression. Outside the therapy room, I teach pottery and sculpt the human figure. Recently, I combined my passion for ceramics and healing by creating a ceramic peer support group for the LGBTQIA+ community. I believe healing rarely happens in isolation. It grows through genuine human connection, curiosity, and compassion. Wherever you are in your journey, we can take the next steps together.
