Kira McSherry, Counseling Intern
Hi, I’m Kira, an intern therapist at Brazen Therapy, lifelong learner, mom, wife, and proud cat lover. I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can exhale, feel safe being yourself, and begin making sense of what you’re carrying.
I’m currently completing my Master of Counseling at Arizona State University and also hold a Bachelor of Science in Human and Family Development. My background shapes how I see people, not as problems to be fixed, but as whole humans shaped by relationships, attachment, and the stories they’ve lived.
My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and attachment-based, with a focus on how early experiences, family dynamics, and life transitions influence how we feel, connect, and cope. I’m especially interested in supporting people navigating:
-
Self-worth, identity, and belonging
-
Fear of abandonment or rejection
-
Adoption and the adoption triad
-
ADHD and neurodivergence
-
Grief, loss, and major life transitions
-
Relationship and attachment concerns
I’m open to working with children, teens, adolescents, adults, individuals, and couples, and I enjoy supporting people across different stages of life as they navigate relationships, emotions, and change.
As an adoptee, I bring both professional training and lived experience into the room. I understand how experiences of attachment, loss, and belonging can shape how we see ourselves and relate to others. My goal is to create a space that feels validating, grounded, and genuinely human.
In sessions, I show up with curiosity, warmth, and collaboration. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and therapy works best when we explore things together, at your pace, in a way that feels safe and respectful.
Outside the therapy room, I’m married and a mom, and I know firsthand how layered and complex family life can be. I enjoy reading, staying active, cheering on the Phoenix Suns and ASU Sun Devils, and spending time with my cats, who are very good at reminding me to slow down and be present.
Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply ready for something to shift, you don’t have to do it alone. I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
