Sukhmani Khalsa, Social Work Intern

Welcome! My name is Sukhmani and I am excited and honored to be a part of your journey!

I am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at ASU. My professional journey began as a case manager at an Arizona homeless shelter and most recently I was an intern in the clinical therapy department at Calvary Healing Center, one of Arizona’s premier residential treatment programs for substance use disorders. There, I worked with individuals navigating addiction, anxiety, trauma, and major life transitions. I supported clients by helping them develop coping skills, increase emotional regulation, clarify their values and goals, and build motivation for lasting change.

I believe healing and self-clarity happen when an individual feels safe, understood, and respected; especially during times when life feels overwhelming or out of control. My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that every person already carries strengths that can be built upon, even when they don’t feel accessible.

My work is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and influenced by Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In our time together, I want to help you strengthen self-awareness and self-compassion. We then can develop practical tools for managing intense emotions, reducing anxiety, and improving distress tolerance. I strive to meet clients where they are, without judgment, and to create a space where vulnerability feels safe.

In our work together, I aim to be a steady, supportive presence while helping you reconnect with your strengths, and move towards your goals and the life you want to create.
